Coaching Experience
Gonçalo Portas brings over two decades of elite tennis coaching experience, including 14+ years as Portugal's National Coach and leadership at the world-renowned IMG Bollettieri Academy. His training programs are tailored to each athlete's strengths, blending technical excellence, tactical awareness, and mental resilience. He has coached in Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Germany, USA, Italy, China, Ukraine, and Morocco, mentoring junior champions, collegiate athletes, and ATP/WTA professionals. Gonçalo also served as Vice President of the Technical Council of the Portuguese Tennis Federation and as Head Coach at the Lisbon Racket Centre.

Gonçalo offers personalized high-performance coaching and tournament support, including player development programs for juniors, college-bound athletes, and professionals. He provides strategic guidance for U.S. college recruitment and pro tour transitions (ITF, ATP, WTA). He has worked with champions including Maria Sharapova, Caroline Wozniacki, Key Nishikori, Tommy Hass, Nicole Vaidisova and Donald Young. Inspired by tennis legend Nick Bollettieri, Gonçalo brings the same passion and discipline to every player he mentors.
Qualifications & Philosophy
Certified at Levels I, II, and III by the Portuguese Tennis Federation and recognized by the International Tennis Federation and Tennis Europe, Gonçalo is fluent in Portuguese, English, French, Spanish, Italian and speaks German and Russian.
